Pals Blog Hop – My Favorite Things

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team created projects showing “My Favorite Things” from any of the two current catalogs or the upcoming catalog in January. We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

My husband and I celebrated our 12 year anniversary a month ago today. He is never impressed with a “basic” card so I created a Pop Up Cubes Card for him using some of my favorites from the August – December 2020 Mini Catalog – the retiring Have a Hoot Stamp Set and retiring Brightly Gleaming Paper. Paired with the Be Mine Stitched Dies and some Copper Foil Sheets this box card is a stunner!

I saw fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator Amanda Fowler at Inspiring Inkin create one of the box cards months ago and I just knew this would be perfect for my husband on our anniversary.

This is one of the coolest projects I have ever made! This Cube Pop Box is a unique gift. You make 4 cubes that fold flat into a box and when the recipient slides the box open the cubes pop out, it’s fantastic!

This isn’t very difficult at all, just a bit time consuming. The most helpful video I found for the cubes is this one that DIY Blaster did on YouTube.

  • Night of Navy Box Wrap: 5-1/2″ x 9-1/2″
    • score at 3-1/8″, 4-3/8″ 7-1/2″ and 8-3/4″
  • Brightly Gleaming Box Decoration:
    • 3″ x 5-3/8″
    • 1-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
      • 2 pieces for the box wrap sides
    • 1-1/8″ x 2-7/8″
      • 2 pieces for the box insert ends
  • Night of Navy Box Insert: 5-1/2″ x 8″
    • score at 1-1/4″ on all 4 sides
  • Pretty Peacock Cubes: 6-1/2″ x 7-1/2″
    • with the 7-1/2″ at the top, score at 2-1/2″ and 5″
    • with the 6-1/2″ at the top, score at 1/2″, 3″, 3-1/2″ and 4
    • watch the DIY Blaster video for the best explanation on how to score, cut and assemble the cubes
    • you will need two pieces for each cube
  • Brightly Gleaming Squares: 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ (4 per cube)

I hope you’ll give this project a try, it is truly amazing. My sister said there is no way I’m going to be able to top this one and I think she might be right!

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on January 13th when our theme will be Time to Sale-A-Brate.  Participants will showcase tags or 3D items that will be great for gifts for any occasion. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft room.

Happy Stamping!

  1. The first picture of the front is gorgeous and a great card. But then watching the video, it jumps to an Oh My!! Great project. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Wow, Jen! I just love this super creative fun fold project!! I think your husband is right about not wanting a regular card after getting these type of cards. Can't wait to see what you make him next! Hope you have a great holiday season with your family!
