Today I have a simple, yet gorgeous field of tulips featured in this Timeless Tulips birthday card. I love how simple this card is and it reminds me of seeing a cluster of tulips off in a field somewhere. I absolutely love the Timeless Tulips Stamp Set! Tulips are one of my favorite flowers and I just knew as soon as I saw this set that I had to have it!
Note: All of the product names in this tutorial are in bold for easy reading. To shop the items in my store, simply click on any of the items in the showcase at the very bottom of this post.
Here’s how to make it:
Start with a Pear Pizzazz 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock Card Base cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ with your Paper Trimmer. Fold in half and burnish with your bone folder.
Next, cut the Basic Black 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock layer at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ with your Paper Trimmer. Adhere it to the card base using your Snail Adhesive.
Cut your Whisper White 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock layer at 4″ x 5 1/4″ with your Paper Trimmer.
Take the large tulip from the Timeless Tulips Photopolymer Stamp Set and ink it up in Blushing Bride ink. Stamp 3 of the large tulips in varying heights from the center toward the upper half of your card.
Now take the smallest tulip bud and ink it in the Blushing Bride Classic Stampin’ Pad and stamp 3 small tulips in the lower half of your landscape.
Ink the straight stem in Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pad and give the tulips stems.
Note: When placing the stem on the tulip, to make it line up right against the base of the flower you need to position the stamp a bit higher than you think it needs to be. You will feel like you stamped too high but the end result will line up just right.
Now ink the curved leaf stamp in the Garden Green Classic Stampin’ Pad and stamp along the stems. To get both leaves on both sides of the stem, stamp the leaf point up in one direction, then turn the stamp in the opposite direction and stamp the other side. This will make the leaves look like they belong on the same stem and you are using the same stamp!
Now that your Whisper White 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock layer is all stamped with pretty tulips, adhere it to the Basic Black 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock layer using your Snail Adhesive.
Take a piece of Basic Black 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock cut at 1/2″ x 3″ with your Paper Trimmer and swipe it with your Embossing Buddy to ensure that no static is on the cardstock.
Using the “Happy Birthday” sentiment, ink it up in Versamark and stamp the sentiment in the center of the Basic Black 8 1/2″ x 11″ Cardstock piece.
Sprinkle with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then use your heat tool to emboss.
Now line up the left side of the sentiment in the Banner Triple Punch to make your flag. Adhere as shown in the top right using your Snail Adhesive.
Voila! You now have a beautiful birthday card to give to your favorite person!
(Full Disclosure: The ink I used on this card is actually a retired color. I only had Powder Pink on hand, but Blushing Bride is very similar, so that is what I have listed throughout the tutorial and in the showcase so that you know what to purchase.)
